It's Harmony Week!
Harmony Week begins today and runs between 15 – 21 March! In line with Harmony Week, we are continuing to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity, our diverse teams, and our local community!
In Australia, around 45 per cent of Australians are born overseas or have at least one parent who was. In our venue, we work year-round to promote social harmony and implement strategies to grow and build diversity within our facility in line with our mission to connect all community to leisure.
From our amazing staff, our workforce training programs, and community led initiatives delivered by our passionate teams - each effort helps us continue to create inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone across our venue and programs and services.
Below we are proud to share our commitments to cultural diversity and showcase our programs to create a harmonious community space.
- Training/ Staff Development: more than 4,500 staff at our community venues across Australia have completed online training through YouMeUs that has improved staff confidence and capability toward inclusion.
- Employment Pathways: our award-winning workforce diversification programs have provided work for divergent groups who underrepresented in the workforce, including people of CALD background and people with a disability amongst many.
- Facility Programs: we collaborate with community groups, so our venues can create pathways for swimming, fitness, aquatic, sport and wellness programs to support the unique needs of groups and individuals to connect all to leisure, so no one misses out.
- Prioritisation: everything we do is underpinned by a national award winning 5-year access & inclusion strategy, which guides our actions to create a welcoming, supportive and inclusive opportunities for all to connect with leisure. Read our social inclusion statement here.
